As of 2015, there are three major telecoms that offer mobile connectivity for tourists. The companies with the broadest country-wide coverage are DTAC and AIS. 4g is starting to roll out in major cities, with 3g already blanketing the cities as well as some islands. Most data plans are cheap and unlimited; they give a certain amount of ‘high speed’ data before delivering data at slower speeds. A passport or other form of identification is required to purchase a sim card.
