Since opening up to tourism in the mid 1990’s, Laos has very slowly started to embrace technology. Mobile and Internet connectivity is still spotty and improving at a snail’s pace every few years. 4g just hit the capital, though this is still restricted to local businesses only. Laos was recently admitted to the WTO; expect more standardization and better connectivity in the years to come.
